If you would like me to recommend a story not listed here, please leave a comment, or send me an email with the link, I will be happy to read it. Be warned though, my criteria for recommending a story is based on my personal preferences only. I may not like what you like. Click here to see a list of the type of fan fiction that I like.
My Fan Fiction Recommendation Criteria:
Here is a summary of the types of fan fiction that I like:
- Sam, Dean and John must be in character. If they are
out-of-character (OOC), then there should be a good explanation for it or what’s the point of calling it a SPN story. I only recommend SPN fan fiction that is based on the character personalities as they are depicted on the TV show, not on some random characters with the same names.- The story must be complete. Only completed fictions are listed here.
- Any story that makes me laugh, cry, or scream in fright. The ones I like best are those that make me do all three.
- The story must show an original idea by the author. Even tag fics should demonstrate the author’s own imaginative twist. I don’t like fics that are just a rehash of the show’s script. And enough already with the werewolf fics! It is so overdone in SPN fanfic that I don’t bother to read them anymore.
- A story that is not longwinded. I love a long yarn, but only if it remains on topic. I’ve encountered too many overly long fics that started out good, then went off on a tangent mid-stream when the authors should have just skipped to the end.
- The entire story must be accessible from a single link. Fics in boards or discussion groups that require registration will not be listed. Fics in blogs or forums that have chapters split across non-sequential, unlinked posts will not be listed. Authors, please upload your fic to an archive like the ones shown on my Fanfiction sources page before requesting a rec. Thanks.

Glad u liked 1 of my picks. Lost a few hours of sleep reading First Born, myself. Sorry rec list so outdated. Don’t have time to read new fics. Will catch up in spring.
